“War does not determine who is right – only who is left” — Bertrand Russell
There are those driven to feel superior,
A need, a greed, to conquer and own
Other lands. They amass those exterior
Countries who wish to be left alone.
World wars are waged for oil, land, religion,
And bloodshed of our youth runs red, such waste.
Young people’s futures shot to oblivion,
Honored with medals, their lives are erased.
What is history for if not to learn
From grievous mistakes in name of country.
How many more bodies and minds must burn
Until we lift veils from our eyes and see?
We must have hope for peace to survive;
Wipe out greed and hate so all may thrive.
