Beach Bliss

“Taking A Forest Bath” – Say What????  (posted by hayesspencer)
I would like you all to write about the last time you totally immersed yourself in nature.
I would like you all to write about how you relaxed, what you did, how you enjoyed the experience.  Whether it is skating on frozen river, a hike on the banks of a river, lying in a hammock under the trees, walking in the rain or snow. camping in the desert…whatever you did to get in touch with nature.

On an Indian summer day in September, we headed
to a beach. It was the kind of day that gives
you hope. Beach was lightly dotted with people,
all lucky enough to be free on this weekday.

Waves chopped into dark blue waters. We walked
along the fringe where tide had recently receded.
Foamy bubbles kept company with gleaming, multi-
colored rocks. Pieces of driftwood scattered
like benches on the sand. We sat, and looked
out at our ocean, hypnotized.

sun drenched ocean
scents of salt and brine in air
furnished time of peace

I think it is easy to get hypnotized in a pleasant way by the waves on a beach. Although it is not an ocean, Lake Michigan and Green Bay can hypnotize me as well as the Atlantic Ocean which I don’t see as often.

    Lovely. Especially
    “We sat, and looked
    out at our ocean, hypnotized.”
Isn’t it wonderful that the ocean can intimately belong to so many? 🙂

  7. I love the sea, and would probably feel more relaxed watching waves than the forest.

If I could have a forest by the ocean, life would be perfect. I love how you bring so much hope into this wonderfully descriptive haibun. I like how the ocean always belongs to all of us, even if just for the time we take to walk along the edges of it or sit and watch the waves.

It’s so easy to be dazzled by the sunlight on the beach. It’s magical …. and yes, hypnotic.
