Strange Woman

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #289

Words:  words, smoke, leaks, swing, eye, bits, miss, sense, temple, flat, track, saw

This Miss is a mess.  Cigarette
smoke curls in air
wherever she goes.  Left eye
leaks, a mouth like a beak,
flat hair that looks like
she sawed it off.  Track
her muddy footprints
to children’s play ground
where she sits on a swing
feeding bits of crumbled crackers
to pigeons.  Words in black
ink adorn her temple,  Forbid-
den.  No one knows what
she means, but they have
sense enough to stay away.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  2. a messy human could be fun to laugh about,
    but your words tickle
    which is cool.
