This Poem Is A Sign

“I am very sad about what is happening in this country.  We all have to resist.  And I hope those of you in other countries ‘resist’ in your own way to injustices and intolerances and fascism as well.  I will try to post beautiful photos next week…I promise.”

This poem shouts
from rooftops,
waves from ban-
ners, paints on
easels, destroys
weasels with words.

This poem says
WORDS MATTER,
stop all racist
chatter.

This poem says
do not give in,
because you think
you cannot win.
We have pens
We have voices
We have choices.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
