Bring diverse or disparate entities into unity.

“We are each other’s harvest; we are each other’s business;
we are each other’s magnitude and bond.”

If a group of ethnically diverse musicians
is not in sync, sounds assault the ears.

If you fill a plate with only sliced
chicken, and mashed potatoes,
there is no diversity of color, dulls
appetite.

If every wall and accent piece
in a room is beige–a stage
for sleep–what catches the eye?

Without variety in music, food, art,
and people, our knowledge of cultures
would shrink. We would be poorer for it.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    Variety is the spice of life and by thinking differently the human race (in all shades) has thought, discovered and and achieved things which we are all grateful for today. We are brilliant except when it comes to living with each other because of perceived differences that seem unacceptable!
