The Plant

Written for:  Quickly #15 – Make use of:

your favorite toy
someone who lived before 1800
a plant with thorns

Thinks he keeps his thorns
well hidden. What a shock
it will be. They all know
that he’s a plant. Checking
up, snooping around for
the Hotshots, like a hound.
Unionization is long over-
due. Workers want an end
to egregious deeds perpetrated
on them by management. The plant
will not hamper plans. Spate
of tyranny is over. They strike
at midnight.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
