Allow Me

Word for today:  Silence

Sit quietly, and just breathe. Concentrate on the sound of your own breathing, entering and leaving your body. Once your mind has quieted, breathe deeply for a few moments, then starting with the word silence, write out a stream on consciousness list, adding words as they come from one another. When finished with your list, use a few of those words, in phrases, to create your post for today. Or simply post about your thoughts and feelings about the word itself.

My words: breath, thought, evening, morning, sad, ruminate, loss, surroundings,
non-communicative, peace, comfort

Allow me to think
of whatever comes to mind.
No speech merely to speak.
In the lull, thoughts
may be sorted out or pushed
aside. Solutions may be
realized in peace and comfort.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
