Poetry Group

Written for:  Poetic Asides November 2016 Chapbook Challenge – Day 22
Two-for-Tuesday:  1) Write a sharing poem or write a poem about
receiving something that was shared.  2) Write a selfish poem.

We sit at an oblong table
in library meeting room,
eager to share our poems.
We are not a critique group,
simply people who love to read,
write, and listen to poetry. Led
by Louis, we learn new poetry
facts every month. He is a
scholar with an eagerness
to share gems of poetic history.
His memory is astounding. Over
time, we have learned to discern
personal poems from fiction.
Sometimes, hugs are involved.
There is room at the table
on every fourth Saturday
of the month. Join us.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
