The Saviour

written for:  Poetic Asides – write an assembly poem

Folks gather of their own free will.
I am still number one. Stunned them
all, haven’t I? Bridges are coming
down, walls are going up. Gated
communities of like-skinned
people are the future. If you don’t
believe me, just pick up The Inquirer.
Those who do not like it here
are free to leave; we will not grieve
over any loss, because I am
the boss.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
