Cold Breeze

Written for:  dVerse Poets Pub – Quadrille 10 (posted by Bjorn)
Imagine we are already up to our 10th Quadrille, and today it’s my turn to host. I usually like words that can be both nouns and verbs to give you a lot of variations, and today I have chosen breeze. I look forward to the most original usage. Come along and write 44 words exactly excluding title and use breeze somewhere in the main body of your poem.

A cold breeze blows
across his heart. Each
time he starts to feel hurt
subside, something simple–
song, flower, afternoon
sun shower–jolts him
into missing her anew.
Will pain never end,
must he wear extra layers
of clothing whenever
a cold breeze blows?

We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

the putting on of extra layers of clothes as the cold breeze blows — just an excellent phrase for what is happening here in this poem. Wonderfullly penned.

The layer of clothing for the “cold breeze” of pain is a unique and vivid comparison. I like this a lot.
