Disdain

Written for Poetic Asides April 2016 Challenge – Day 15
Write a poem with at least four of the following eight words:
flat, rung, lavish, vessel, paper, blacklist, gaudy, tooth

Though well appointed and lavish,
the decor of the vessel seemed
a bit gaudy to her. She wrinkled
her nose in distaste at the writing
paper–flat rather than textured.
She unleashed a litany of complaints
to each of the stewards she rang
for service. They held their tongues,
observing that she was long
in the tooth, after all, however,
plans were underway to present
the captain with a request for
blacklisting the nasty hag.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
