Lacking in Self-Defense

Written for:  Poetic Asides April 2016 Challenge – Day 11
Write a defensive poem  e.g. getting defensive about an accusation which may or may not be true, people or animals defending themselves, defense in sports, defense in courtroom.

I’m defending myself, your honor,
says the man accused of the crime
of breaking and entering.
Are you sure it was me,
he asks a witness?
Absolutely!
On your wrist
is my
watch.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are in the process of returning to New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
