Soaked skin, torn dress
clings to her body.  Hair
like wet black snakes
falls across her face
and shoulders.  It is over.

  1. A handful of words, and you convey heartbreak beautifully. The black snakes of her hair… it’s almost as though she is drenched in her own tears. Second Magpie poem on this prompt, and it seems to illicit achingly similar reactions. Brevity, thy name is PIP! Love, Amy
